Huge DJ Festivals Around The World

Recently, the Ultra Music Festival (UMF) brand hosted a single-day event in Melbourne, in the lead up to the main event held in Miami. From what we heard, the artists that performed really turned up the heat. UMF is just one of the many large-scale festivals in the world. This week, we explore three other music festivals and explore the magic of each.

1. Splendour In The Grass

Where: Byron Bay, Australia
When: Friday, 20th — Sunday, 22nd July 2018

Splendour-In-The-Grass-Australia

What: This is a world-famous music festival traditionally held mid-year in Australia. The brand held its first event in 2001 and continues to grow year on year! The genres showcased are varied and include hip-hop, indie rock, some EDM and alternative genres (think Triple J). Artists who have rocked this festival include Flume, What So Not, Peking Duk, RL Grime and Schoolboy Q.

2. Coachella

Where: Indio, California, U.S.A.
When: April 13th — April 22nd 2018

What: Coachella’s artist roster is similar to that of Splendour in the Grass, on a much larger scale (see the image above to give you an idea). Last year’s festival achieved some mammoth results, hosting 250,000 partygoers across the two weekends, and grossing $114,600,000. The festival is hosted in California’s Colorado Desert and is home to names like Lady Gaga, Kendrick Lamar, Martin Garrix, DJ Snake, Future, Kygo, Gucci Mane, Empire of the Sun, DJ Khaled and so on. You get the picture here, the biggest and best artists in the world.

3. Tomorrowland

Where: Boom, Belgium
When: July 20th — July 29th, 2018

Tomorrowland-2018

What: There’s no way we could miss one of the world’s most popular electronic dance music (EDM) festivals. The Tomorrowland brand continues to grow with the rise in popularity in EDM and its many sub-genres. In 2017, it smashed records hosting 400,000 people over two enormous weekends. Each of the stages at this festival is very uniquely planned, and very much so in theme. This event brings the likes of Axwell /\ Ingrosso, Tiësto, Steve Aoki, Jauz, Timmy Trumpet, Alesso, Armin Van Buuren, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike and many, many more.

There are still a few more I’d like to mention and explore, but we’ll leave that for another week. Personally, I’d like to attend as many festivals as I can to experience how different parts of the world celebrate. A few years back I attended Tomorrowland, and I must say, it’ll be something I never forget! The variety of music and stages on offer is truly remarkable. Some sets that I’ll never forget include Will Sparks (all the Aussies were there supporting him and the vibe was so electric), Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike (in a side stage show), MaRLo (Australia represent again!) and Hardwell.
