Music Ideas for a Small Wedding Party

By August 20, 2021 No Comments

If you think that planning a small wedding is easy, you are in for a surprise! This is an exhaustive task, with many aspects to take into account. The only difference is that you have less people to invite and a smaller budget.

First of all, the number of guests is much lower than in a regular wedding. You don’t need as many tables nor extra staff members at the event. The only thing that will be different from what happens with other weddings are the music choices: there won’t be loud speakers for those who can’t hear well or dance while they’re sitting down, so it’s best to have a DJ to take care of your music on the night.

Second, the budget is not nearly as high. This means that you don’t need to buy expensive and complicated music production equipment like microphones or amplification systems. But your guests still wants to enjoy some live music while they’re sitting down at their tables eating dinner. And maybe some dancing for the wedding party and some of your guests after!

Many people do not consider the importance of music for a wedding party. Music can add to the ambiance and mood of an event. It can also help set a tone for everyone, whether it is more formal or fun-loving. The right kind of music will motivate your guests and make them feel good about themselves. If you are planning on having a small wedding, here are some ideas that may work well with your party!

Classical Music

It is a great choice for small weddings and can be used at the ceremony or reception. There are many classical pieces that will work well with your wedding party. Some of our favourites include “Canon in D” by Johann Pachelbel, “Piano Trio No. 12” by Ludwig von Beethoven, “String Quartet Opus 131 – III Adagio Sostenuto e Cantabile,” also known as the “Kreutzer Sonata” by Johannes Brahms, and most famously, “Ave Maria.” These selections would all provide an elegant class to your playlist.

Jazz

This option is a good one for weddings that are more casual in nature and need some live music to liven up the mood. Jazz music can be played at either the beginning or end of your wedding event, with an upbeat song to get people excited followed by something mellow like “Misty” by Erroll Garner as they leave from your party.

Latin

You can also try music from around the world, such as music in Latin style or music that is popular in different parts of Eastern Europe! These types of music will provide your guests with a fun experience they are sure to enjoy. Some popular Latin songs for weddings are “Mi Morena” by Tito Puente and “La Negra Tiene Tumbao” by Celia Cruz.

Country Music

An alternative choice for smaller weddings is country music. This type of tunes has a good mix between upbeat songs like the popular song “Boot Scootin’ Boogie,” which works well as people walk into your reception area or dinner hall, and slower songs for those who want to slow down a bit. Best also if your reception is at the country side. Reminding us to relax and take it easy.

80s Music

For an ’80s themed wedding, this would be another good choice of music. The upbeat tunes from the era will help keep your guests on their feet as they enjoy themselves at your event! “Everybody Wants To Rule The World” by Tears For Fears is one song that most people are familiar with and can provide some excellent entertainment. One more awesome thing about this selection: it’s available in many different languages so if any of your guests don’t speak English, then we’re sure there will be something for them too!

Electronic Dance Music (EDM)

This type of music is rising in popularity and is a good choice if you want to have some fun with your guests. It’s perfect for weddings that are looking for more of an upbeat party environment! Some popular songs are “Walking on Sunshine” by Katrina and the Waves, “Hot in Here” by Nelly, or “I Gotta Feeling,” also known as The Black Eyed Peas.

Pop

This is another good option for a more upbeat, party-style wedding, like the type where people want to dance and have fun. This includes your favourite pop songs from artists such as Bruno Mars or Taylor Swift!

Alternative Rock/Punk Rock

If you want something that will get everyone in the mood right away, then this style of music might be perfect for you. It’s usually louder than other types of rock because it has been heavily influenced by punk rockers. Some popular choices are “Losing My Religion” by R.E.M., “Rock ‘N Roll Queen” by The Submarines, or “Hey Jude” by The Beatles.” These all work well as they can capture different moods which will change the atmosphere of your party.

Whatever music you’d prefer for your small wedding party is sure to be a great choice. Remember to fill in your playlist with songs that will reminisce your love story. Your guests must be taken into consideration too, and we’re sure everyone will have a great night!
